Nandrolone Decanoate
This drug, known in gyms as Deca Durabolin, is a synthetic anabolic steroid, widely used in sports and has become a permanent fixture in the arsenal of professional bodybuilders.
Nandrolone is characterized as an injectable anabolic steroid with a strong anabolic effect and weak androgenic properties. It is these qualities that make it an excellent preparation for increasing muscle mass and increasing strength. The main advantages that make Nandrolone such a popular steroid are two: it works well for most people regardless of gender, age and weight and it is low-toxic to the liver.
Deca Durabolin is a classic anabolic. As shown by many studies, deca has the most lasting effect on cell receptors responsible for anabolic processes. This is what makes nandrolone so popular. The decanoate form (decanoic acid) is produced in Hungary under the name Retabolil, in the West and in the USA it is called Deca-durabolin. One ampoule of Retabolil contains 50 mg of nandrolone decanoate. After injection, the effect lasts for two weeks.
Nandrolone is available under various trade names, starting with the original – Deca Durabolin (Deca-Durobolin), and starting with: Nandrobol, Retabolil, Dekabol, Nandrolone decanoate, Durabol, Nandrolone, Nandrorapid, Nerobolil, etc., was first produced in the 1950s by Organon. The active ingredient of all these trade names is nandrolone. Its initial supply is in 1 ml ampoules containing 50 mg of the generic ingredient. The most widely available today is a 2 ml. bottle with an active substance of 200 mg, and 10 ml packages containing 250 mg/ml are increasingly appearing.
Deca Durabolin exists in two ester forms: nandrolone decanoate and nandrolone phenylpropionate. The differences between the two forms are in the steroid’s active life and half-life. The decanoate ester is slow, with a half-life of 6-8 days, while the phenylpropionate ester is only active for 3 to 4 days.
Deca Durabolin – properties, application and action:
The steroid molecule of Deca Durabolin has a structure almost identical to the testosterone molecule. With the exception of one “small” detail – it lacks the methyl group 19. Thanks to the removal of the methyl group, nandrolone is able to stabilize androgen receptors. It should be known that the longer the androgen receptor is in an active state – the more proteins the cell can synthesize.
Not everything is wonderful. Much of the free nandrolone becomes dihydronandrolone (DHN), which reduces the permeability of nerve fibers, in practice this means reduced libido and weakening of neuromuscular stimulation. This can be avoided by the simultaneous use of highly androgenic steroids, such as testosterone.
However, the conversion of nandrolone to DHN also has a positive side – nandrolone shows reduced activity in the prostate, body skin and scalp. Simply put, those who use nandrolone are much less susceptible to these testosterone side effects such as prostate hypertrophy, acne or hair loss.
Deca Durabolin is not affected by aromatase, does not aromatize. However, it is converted to estrogen, but in very small quantities: five times less than testosterone. At the same time, it is known that Deca expresses progestogenic activity, which at doses above 600 mg. per week can lead to gynecomastia.
Deca Durabolin, like testosterone, promotes and activates satellite cells and increases IGF-1 in the blood, leading to muscle hyperplasia.
Even at low doses, nandrolone retains water in the body, not as much as testosterone, but there is still a slight water retention. During competition preparation, the use of nandrolone decanoate is not appropriate.
The use of Deca Durabolin has a beneficial effect on the joints. This fact is attributed not to the “accumulation of water in the joint capsules, as a result of the use of nandrolone,” and as a consequence, facilitates the functioning of the joints. In reality, this is not true. More precisely, not all. Strictly speaking, no water in the joints accumulates under the influence of nandrolone. Deca Durabolin, which is a fairly strong progestin, is able, albeit a little converted to estradiol, to retain water in the body. In the joints, water simply cannot enter, as when using steroids with anti-estrogenic (Drostanolone) or anti-progestagenic (Stanozolol) activity.
A cycle that uses only trenbolone, stanozolol and drostanolone, against the background of heavy training, has a greater chance of inflicting a strong blow on the joints. In addition, it should be noted that progestogens and estrogens (above a certain concentration in the blood plasma) have anti-inflammatory properties. And since Deca Durabolin, as noted, has progestogenic activity, as well as the ability to convert to estradiol, it has a beneficial effect on the joints.
In clinical practice, Nandrolone is used in the treatment of malnutrition, for recovery after injury, surgery, heart attacks. In women, it increases the level of hemoglobin in the blood, reduces the loss of calcium from bones. Deca Durabolin is a widely used anabolic drug not only among athletes. Ballet dancers, circus artists, theater and film stars – also occasionally conduct courses with the drug.
Deca Durabolin – Usage, Administration and Dosage:
Effective doses of nandrolone start at 200 mg and up – per week. Based on the sufficiently long half-life of nandrolone decanoate, Deca Durabolin can be injected once every 7-8 days.
Nandrolone is rarely used alone. A classic combination is Deca with Methane (Methandienone) – because these two steroids are synergistic.
Do not use Deca Durabolin with other progestogens (trenbolone, anapolon), the negative effect of such combinations can permanently make you forget about AS.
An absolutely pointless combination is with boldenone or Primobolan.
The drug is usually injected once a week. Optimal doses vary between 200mg. and 600mg. per week. From a practical point of view, 400 mg. per week is recommended in combination with other steroids. Results are usually observed after a few weeks. The half-life of Nandrolone decanoate is 6-7 days. The drug remains in the body as metabolites for up to 18 months, which is important to know in a doping test for steroids.
