Testosterone propionate is an injectable form of testosterone with the propionate ester added in an oil base. Testosterone propionate is intended for increasing muscle mass and strength, but due to the nature of its action, it is often used in a cutting cycle. This is the fastest form of testosterone, which is why it is considered more effective and with a lower risk of side effects.
Action of Testosterone Propionate
As with most testosterone preparations, an ester is added to slow the rate at which the steroid is released from the injection site. Unlike other esters, propionate only slows the release by a few days. Testosterone propionate is much faster acting than other testosterone esters, such as cypionate or enanthate, and therefore requires much more frequent injections. While cypionate and enanthate are injected on a weekly basis, propionate is typically administered (at least) every third day. To make this compound even more uncomfortable to use, the propionate ester can cause an irritating sensation at the injection site.
Those who are not bothered by frequent injections will find that testosterone propionate is quite effective. It is a powerful anabolic steroid , capable of causing rapid increases in size and strength . According to athletes, this is the mildest testosterone ester and is the preferred form of this hormone in a cutting cycle. This is explained by the fast action of testosterone propionate. Despite the high level of aromatization that the drug can cause, and all the side effects associated with it, it can be quickly controlled. Retained water in the tissues is quickly removed, and signs of side effects are quickly suppressed.
Taking, dosing and combining Testosterone propionate
The most common dosage regimen for this compound in men is to inject 50 to 100 mg every 2 or 3 days. As with other popular esters, the total weekly dose should be in the range of 200-400 mg. Due to the frequent injection, it is recommended to rotate injection sites.
Like all testosterone-based compounds, propionate is very suitable for combining with other anabolic steroids. Usually, for a solid increase in muscle volume, mass and strength, it is combined with other strong agents such as Methane (methandienone), Anadrol or Deca Durabolin. On the other hand, Testosterone propionate can be combined with non-aromatizing anabolics, combined in a pre-contest relief cycle. Popular relief programs include a moderate dose of propionate with oral Winstrol (15-35 mg daily), Primobolan (50-150 mg daily) or Anavar (15-30 mg daily).
Side effects of using Testosterone propionate
During a cycle with this compound, you may experience the typical side effects of testosterone. Users sensitive to gynecomastia can and should take an anti-estrogen. The combination of Nolvadex and Proviron works particularly well to prevent/stop this process. Also accompanying testosterone propionate are androgenic side effects such as oily skin, acne, increased aggression and hair growth. Those who are prone to baldness may find that propionate will worsen this condition. To prevent hair loss, Proscar can be taken, which will lead to a decrease in the accumulation of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) in many androgenic target tissues. And as with all testosterone products, propionate suppresses endogenous testosterone production. Therefore, the use of testosterone stimulating drugs such as HCG (Pregnyl) and/or Clomid is imperative to avoid a post-cycle crash.
